Challenge By Choice

The leadership training our boys are experiencing is a great part of this trip! Javier, our guide for the week, leads them in different activities each day, sometimes several times a day. Below is a picture of part of yesterday's training which was titled "Challenge By Choice." Javier led a discussion about our comfort zone (being at home, playing Xbox, going to school), learning zone (like our white water rafting experience--when you try something new, but know you have support from others around you in case something goes wrong or you need help), and our panic zone (swimming with sharks-things that make us uncomfortable, makes your body shut down, that we are trying on our own with no support). This was a really good discussion for our boys. Mr. Fruitt reminded them that many times, boys and men are slow to ask for help when they need help or have questions about something. He told the boys that it's always good to ask for help, especially when they are outside their comfort zone.
